SAMSUNG INTRODUCES THE GALAXY S4 ACTIVE
Galaxy s4 active is the latest of Samsung’s Galaxy s Smartphone series. Sources say that it will be a water and dust resistant device giving users a chance to live life in style by providing a rich experience without the fear of damage from open environments.
JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics said, “The GALAXY S4 Active is the newest addition to the GALAXY series and is purposefully designed for active users who love the outdoors,” He continues, “Samsung has taken the innovative features of the GALAXY S4 and added breakthrough protective design elements to create a device that thrives in an active environment and is built for a lifestyle of travel and exploration.”
This implies that Galaxy S4 Active shares much of its internal hardware with the vanilla Galaxy S4, including a quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU at 1.9GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 1080p (TFT, not AMOLED) display, 2600mAh battery and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD. However, its camera strength reduced from 13MP on the regular GS4 to 8MP on the Active.
Galaxy S4 Active runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and the latest Samsung TouchWiz UI, and the obvious Galaxy S4 features like WatchON, the Peel-based TV controller app, which uses a front-mounted IR blaster. System Health is included as well, along with the full suite of Samsung apps and camera capabilities and not forgetting the new ‘aqua shot’ mode for taking underwater pics.
Samsung is believed to launch Galaxy S4 Active this summer, with the U.S. and Sweden seeing release first. In the UK, retailer Phones4U has confirmed that it’ll offer the Active “when it becomes available.”
