Rec app features.

Rec. (Pro) provides many advantages over the standard adb screenrecord utility. Some of the highlights include:

  •  No need to be tied to your computer while recording.
  •  Longer screen recording – record for up to 1 hour.
  •  A beautiful user interface – no more messing with the command line/terminal.
  •  Save your favourite configurations as Presets.
  •  Automatically show screen touches for the duration of your recording.
  •  Customisable countdown timer so that you can get your screen recording set-up perfectly.
  •  Shake your device, or simply switch your screen off, to stop your recording early.

The app developer promises to add more features in the coming days, including audio recording support, and a widget.

Your phone/tablet must be running Android 4.4 Kit Kat or higher in order to use this app. Also, you need a rooted device for Rec. to function correctly. In the meantime, users of this app will not be able to record audio or radio. But we hope an update for this features will be coming soon as the developers are working on it.

Rec app has been tested on a Nexus 5/7, running stock rooted 4.4 Kit Kat. It is said to work fine on other ROMs and devices also. But it might be slow on various devices like the Samsung Galaxy S2/S3…

Top Tips:

1. Disable notifications in your Super-user app to prevent the notifications from appearing in the beginning of your recordings.

2. Wait a couple of seconds for the video file to finish processing before trying to play back your recording.
