MyTracks for Android – Free Software

My Tracks IconsMyTracks for Android application is one of Google’s lesser known mobile apps, but it’s actually very useful tool for those who are interested in keeping records of their bike rides, runs, hikes and any other activity while watching live performance statistics such as time, speed, distance, and elevation. Google itself is already putting it into use together with Team HTC-Columbia during the Tour de France to track the team’s riders at time of the event.

The Google’s latest update of My Tracks for Android has revamped the user interface and added more new features, hence making it even easier to track your marathon training. My Tracks uses GPS information to track and visualize your path was first launched in the year 2009. Most notably, My Tracks v2.0 adds the unique ability relive your journey by replaying it using Google Earth for Android, and also tracking location statistics over time. Other updates include; improvements to how location statistics are presented and a streamlined sharing process. The free, updated app is available now on the Google Play store

With My Tracks, you can share your GPS tracks and stats online via Google+, Face-book, or Twitter. You will also be able to use Google Maps, Google Fusion Tables, or Google Docs. The app support files such as GPX, KML, CSV, and TCX.

This Google’s app uses the GPS sensor in your phone to record geographic and velocity statistics; however, the app also syncs with third-party biometric sensors, including:

– Zephyr HxM Bluetooth heart rate monitor

– Polar WearLink Bluetooth heart rate monitor

– ANT+ heart rate and speed distance monitors (these require an ANT+ compatible phone)

Thanks for putting the moving time option to be visible with the total time. I would like the larger speed field in the stats page while in the car.
