If you own an Android smartphone but you find it hard to locate a contact or even an application from a list of hundreds of items on your phone; or you find it stressful to search for an item by typing in its title while on the go! Well, there is a fantastic application you can use to search almost everything on your mobile phone. These app is known as the Gesture search!

Google has announced that they have updated their Gesture Search app for Android. The Gesture Search app now supports over 40 languages. The app can be downloaded from Google Play.

The app also supports transliteration, which means that you can use a letter from one language to another. “You can even use transliteration across many languages so you could write [pinyin] for Chinese instead of writing native characters potentially use more strokes. This also works for other languages where transliteration is used more often,” Quoting from a Tech site report.

The Gesture Search app lets you use your own handwriting and gestures for searching on Android phones or tablets instead of using the keyboard. You can draw a number or letter to access your contacts, apps, music, settings, etc. by swiping your finger on the screen.

Google released the Gesture Search app on Android in March 2010 and it has been evolving ever since. Now, it allows you to quickly find a contact, a bookmark, an application, a music track or even a setting from hundreds or thousands of items, all in one place. It is fast and fun to use. It continuously refines search results as you add each gesture, and becomes better as it learns from your search history.

Search results are updated as you add each letter or digit and becomes better by learning from your search history. You can also wipe off a gesture or the entire query and rewrite.

For those who’d rather make gestures or hand write than type, Google has updated its Gesture Search app.
