Flappy Bird No more “Flappy Bird!”

If you aren’t aware, the addictive flying game “Flappy Bird” is no longer available for download in both Play store and App store since yesterday. If you might have noted, the game is missing in the 2 store, but users who have it installed on their devices will continue to use the app. The developer of the game pulled out the app that soared to the top of iPhone and Android app installs after being unable to cope with all the attention coming his way, especially from a section of the press that called him out for copy-pasting elements from other games and lacking originality.

Using Twitter social media to reach out to audience; Nguyen, a Vietnamese developer posted;

“I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down,” developer Dong Nguyen wrote on Saturday. “I cannot take this any more.”

Nguyen the owner of DotGears studio, says that despite the fact that his popular app “Flappy Bird” will be missing in the mentioned stores, he will continue to develop games. He also said that while he’s humbled that his game has gotten so popular, it comes as a cost as he prefers to live a ‘simple’ life and not be in the limelight. He went ahead and said; “Sometimes other things are more important than money, right?”

Flappy Bird was said to be making an average of $50,000 every day for Nguyen from in-game advertising, with an average four-star rating from more than 543,000 reviews in the Apple App Store and 228,000 on Google play.

Speaking to Chocolate Lab Apps, Nguyen mentioned that he created the game in about 3 days and never participated in promoting the app in any way after its release.
