Android distribution numbers for December show Jelly Bean & KitKat rise as Gingerbread slowly fades

Android versions Google usually provide Android distribution numbers in every month. So as expected, Google has released the version distribution numbers for December 2013, but no big change were registered according to the charts shown by Google.The Data was collected during a 7-day period that ended on January 8, 2014.

The charts showing the distribution numbers were released during the weekend, and shows that Gingerbread is slowly fading away as both Jelly Bean and KitKat (Android’s newest version) continues to gain ground.

If we refer back to the previous months before Dec 2013, the distribution numbers shows that number of devices on Jelly Bean doubled in a month, and Gingerbread still dominated Android that all the time.

The latest release show some small changes were Android 4.4 KitKat is slowly rising while 4.1.x Jelly Bean has somehow taken reaching above the 50% mark. Ice Cream Sandwich, which was Android’s last major redesign, has dropped a few ticks. While Gingerbread is still hanging around dropping only 3% since last month.

This data reflects devices running the latest Google Play Store app, which is compatible with Android 2.2 and higher. Each snapshot of data represents all the devices that visited the Google Play Store in the prior 7 days.
